 The Navy's long range reconnaissance airship U.S.S. Akron is shown leaving the Goodyear airship facility at Akron, Ohio. Goodyear's huge airship hangar with clamshell doors on both ends, could accommodate two of the giant dirigibles at one time. The airfield you are looking at here from the 1930's is now Akron International Airport. This painting is in the collection of the Lighter Than Air Museum at Akron, Ohio.
